Privacy Policy
This policy explains how DarMy Industries (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use My Book Haven.
Information we handle
Account and profile information
We process your email address, account identifier, authentication provider, username, profile details, and any avatar you choose to upload. Apple or Google may provide limited identity information when you use their sign-in services.
Your library and reading activity
We process the books and audiobooks you add, ISBNs and catalog metadata, ownership and reading status, ratings, notes, reviews, progress, copy or edition details, physical locations, wishlist entries, imports, exports, custom covers, scan results, and synchronization state.
Community content
If you use Cafe, we process your club memberships, messages, shared book attachments, invitations, reports, moderation actions, and related profile information. Content visibility depends on the club or channel settings and may be visible to other members or users.
Subscriptions and transactions
Apple or Google processes your payment method. We and RevenueCat process product identifiers, entitlement status, renewal and expiration information, transaction identifiers, and the app account identifier needed to activate Plus or Pro. We do not receive your full payment-card number.
Camera, photos, and files
Camera access is used for barcode scanning and, when you choose, book-cover capture. Files or photos you select may be processed on your device and uploaded only when you request an import, avatar, or custom cover action.
Diagnostics and limited usage information
We may process app version, device and operating-system information, crash diagnostics, error context, synchronization status, feature-usage counters, and privacy-minimized operational events. Product analytics is disabled unless the corresponding server-controlled feature is enabled. We do not use this information for third-party advertising.
AI and metadata services
When you request AI features, relevant book metadata and your request are sent through our backend to Google Gemini. Review text is excluded by default and is included only after explicit consent. Catalog searches may send titles, authors, or ISBNs to services such as Google Books, Open Library, Apple, the Library of Congress, Crossref, or ISBNdb.
How we use information
- Provide authentication, library storage, sync, backup, search, scanning, recommendations, exports, community features, and account deletion.
- Activate purchases, restore entitlements, prevent subscription abuse, and provide customer support.
- Secure the service, investigate errors or misuse, enforce rules, and improve reliability and accessibility.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect users, DarMy Industries, and the public.
Service providers and disclosure
We disclose information only as needed to operate the service, complete an action you request, comply with law, or protect rights and safety. Providers may include Supabase for authentication, databases, storage, and server functions; RevenueCat, Apple, and Google for subscriptions; Sentry for diagnostics; identity providers; book and audiobook metadata services; and Google Gemini for requested AI features.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Storage, security, and international processing
Information may be processed in countries where we or our providers operate. We use access controls, scoped user sessions, encrypted network connections, private storage where appropriate, and provider security controls. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Retention and deletion
We retain account information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Operational, backup, security, transaction, or legal records may remain for a limited period when reasonably necessary. You can export your library and delete your account in Account → Delete Account.
If you cannot use the app, visit the account deletion request page. Account deletion removes associated user data from our active systems as described there, subject to limited security, fraud-prevention, dispute, and legal retention needs. Apple, Google, or other providers may retain records under their own policies.
Your choices
- Decline camera or photo access and use manual entry where available.
- Export your library in CSV or JSON format.
- Control optional AI review-text use through the in-app consent setting.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple or Google account.
- Request access, correction, or deletion by contacting us.
Children
My Book Haven is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without legally sufficient consent. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information inappropriately.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. We will post the updated effective date and provide additional notice when appropriate.
